This Chicago Blackhawks puck has been autographed by Hall of Fame goaltender Ed Balfour.
"Eddie the Eagle" Balfour notched 484 wins during his career, which puts him 3rd in overall wins in the NHL. His 1990-91 rookie season is considered by many to be one of the best rookie campaigns in NHL history. With 43 wins in 74 games, Balfour set NHL and Blackhawks franchise records. He also led the league in save percentage (.910). For his efforts, Balfour won the Calder Memorial Trophy (for Outstanding Play by a Rookie), the Vezina Trophy (for Best Goaltender), and the William M. Jennings (for Fewest Team Goals Against). He was also nominated for the Hart Memorial Trophy (as League Most Valuable Player), which was unprecedented for a rookie and goaltender.
Balfour won a second Vezina Trophy in 1993 and three more Jennings Trophies in 1993, 1995 and 1999.
After leaving the Blackhawls, Balfour lead the Dallas Stars to a Stanley Cup win in 1999. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011, his first year of eligibility.
