Bob Matthias was an American Olympic decathlete, college football player, and politician. He won back to back gold medals in the decatholon in 1948 and 1952 - an absolutely incredible achievement! His first gold, in 1948, he won when he was only 17 years old! This made him the youngest track and field athlete to take home a gold medal. He was the first person to successfully defend an Olympic decathlon title and also was the first person to compete in the Rose Bowl and the Olympics in the same year! This unique card was signed by Matthias himself and commemorates his performances as an olympian.
