As the 1935 World Series began, the Detroit Tigers were still searching for that elusive first championship. After claiming the AL pennant, they faced their second consecutive World Series against Charley Grimm's Chicago Cubs.
Hank Greenberg had set the pace for Detroit's line-up during the regular season, hitting 36 home runs and batting in 170 runs.
The Tigers beat the Chicago Cubs in the series 4-2 to become World Champions for the first time.
